Hanoi free wifi: Easy to find, easy to access

Do you believe that Hanoi free wifi is available in this capital of Vietnam? In fact, that is true. But it doesn’t mean that you can access the wifi every where and every time. So, how to find it? Let’s read my introduction about this below.

Nowadays, the newest information is shared on social networking sites and online newspapers rather than tradition methods. So if you have to stay away from the Internet for a while, then you might feel to be left behind. This could be a serious problem in the case of businessman or investors. Because they must update information frequently to make decision in time. Of course, travelers are no exception. They need the internet connection to communicate with their loved ones in their home country to show every happy memory throughout their trips. Obviously, it’s unbearable if the Internet is unavailable.

In fact, there are three common types of the Internet connection these days. The first is cable, but not well-suited to mobile devices since you have to be motionless at a place. The second is to use the internet data provided by telecommunication operators, but very expensive and limited. The final is wifi access, very suitable for those using mobile phones or laptops all time. Amazingly, some holiday destinations supply free wifi to attract more travelers to visit them. And Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, belongs to this group too.

Hanoi free wifi for publics, however, is restrained in few zones. This is because of some problems related to security as well as the cost of operation. Hopefully, the band is wide enough to allow thousands of users to access the Internet at the same time. Meanwhile, many rent accommodations offer free wifi as well. But whatever your case is, you should notice certain issues when you want to use Hanoi free wifi.

    1. Hotel wifi

Intriguingly, the majority of hotels in Hanoi these days supplies free wifi in all corners of their facilities. Compared with some splendid accommodations in lots of nations, they highlight this benefit on their website to drum up their businesses, and of course, insist that they request no fee. The only task you need to do when you present in the hotel is to ask the staff the password for wifi access. To make sure that no one, except its guests and employees, can approach the Internet connection owned by the hotel so that he or she could use for bad purposes or download something illegally, the hotel usually create a password to protect the bandwidth entirely. As a consequence, you will not need to worry about a problem that unknown men can hack your mobile devices via hotel wifi.

Another thing you should pay attention to is that a few hotels have the structure like a huge tube. This leads some places not to have wifi waves. To cope with this situation, they add more wifi access points with partly similar names, such as “ABC_Hotel_1”, or “ABC_Hotel_2”. Again, ask the staff whether the passwords of them are the same. Anyway, in my opinion, the hotel wifi is the safest choice to meet your private demands, including work and communication.

    2. Public wifi

When mentioning Hanoi free wifi, the locals usually think of public wifi rather than hotel wifi, because obviously, they cannot utilize the latter. The public wifi is mainly financed by People Committee of Hanoi Capital to promote the tourism industry of the city. However, this service has just been started recently, and so, there are not plenty of free wifi access points in the capital at the moment. Fortunately, private institutions also take part in wifi provision in order to gain some advantages, while wifi is accessible in the airport for free too. But remember that you must face with the risk of being attacked by hackers. So don’t use the public wifi if you want to send an email, log in social network sites or access your bank account. By the way, let’s have a quick view of these kinds of Hanoi free wifi.

    People Committee of Hanoi Capital

The most illustrious tourist spot in Hanoi is currently Hoan Kiem Lake. Especially, at the weekend, all streets around the lake are transferred into an area for pedestrians. That’s why with free wifi access, travelers are able to dig into information about Hoan Kiem Lake while walking and seeing this places of interest directly, an experience that could easily stick in their mind forever. This was also the base to let People Committee of Hanoi Capital make a plan to open free wifi points scattered near Hoan Kiem Lake in 2016.

After 2 stages of the plan, at present, there are 18 wifi access points run by People Committee of Hanoi Capital in total. Some points were established in the Old Quarter as well after the pedestrian zone was expanded to the north of Hoan Kiem Lake so that tourists could enjoy Night Market conveniently.

The name of wifi is “Freewifi_UBNDHANOI”. After you select this wifi, a banner which introduces about the pedestrian zone will emerge on the browser of your devices. Do not feel annoyed about it because it’s a good source to let you understand the city more. And moreover, the banner emergence merely lasts 10 seconds. You are given a block of 30 minutes to access the Internet for free before the management system log out your account automatically. If you want to use this service again, just repeat the operation above.

The final issue I want to remind you is that sometimes, the speed can be so low. This is because the access of numerous people at the same time. Calm down yourself and move to another access point, and perhaps, the speed will be improved.

    Private wifi

Based from what I checked in some locations in Hanoi, one of the common wifi providers is S-wifi. Three main sectors where S-wifi offers Hanoi free wifi are hospitals, universities and well-known tourist destinations. Apparently, for visitors, the last one is more appropriate. Apart from certain roads in the Old Quarter, you can realize the presence of S-wifi at flower markets in the proximity of West Lake.

Nevertheless, the only problem is that you have to know some Vietnamese words. When you choose “Free S-wifi”, and visit the first page on your browser, an advertisement will pop up. A button with the words – “Nhấn vào Internet” in Vietnamese, or “Click for the Internet” in English pops up in the center of the page. Just press it. And you will access the digital world.

    Airport wifi

When you arrive at Noi Bai International Airport, the only airport of Hanoi, you can use free wifi there. Firstly, just select “Noi Bai Airport Free Wi-Fi”, and then open the browser to see a login page. Next, you have to fill in a form or click “Access”, and finally, enjoy this superb amenity.

In general, by using Hanoi free wifi, you can keep abreast with everything in the world, besides studying more aspects of this beautiful city. However, do not forget that each kind of this wifi is only suitable for each of your wants.
